Australia Backs Pure Earth’s Mission to Combat Toxic Pollution in Ghana

Last week, High Commissioner Owen-Jones met with the team from Pure Earth Africa, led by Vice President Gabriel Sanchez, to discuss their important work in Ghana and across the continent.
With funding support from the Australian Government, Pure Earth is tackling one of the world’s most overlooked public health threats—toxic pollution. Their mission: to reduce the impact of lead and mercury exposure, especially among children, and to help communities breathe cleaner air, drink safer water, and live healthier lives.
In Ghana, where artisanal mining and informal recycling can pose environmental challenges, Pure Earth’s work is critical to promoting safer practices and protecting vulnerable populations.
Australia is proud to support innovative solutions that contribute to a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable 🇬🇭
