In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Embassy of Spain in Ghana organized a panel discussion at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to spotlight the achievements and contributions of women scientists. The event was held with the support of WiSTEM Ghana and in collaboration with Anesvad Foundation, creating a vibrant platform for dialogue, inspiration, and knowledge exchange.

The discussion brought together female scientists, researchers, and students across multiple disciplines from health sciences and engineering to social research to highlight the growing influence of women in advancing scientific discovery and innovation. Participants shared experiences, challenges, and opportunities in their respective fields, emphasizing the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and institutional support in empowering women within the scientific community.

Speakers underscored that strengthening women’s participation in science is not only a matter of equity but also a critical driver of innovation and societal development. Through collective action and support, institutions and stakeholders can create an environment where women researchers thrive and contribute meaningfully to global scientific progress.
The event also served as an opportunity to introduce academic and research prospects available in Spain, encouraging Ghanaian students and scholars to explore international collaborations and educational pathways.

Guided by the inspiring motto, “Give to gain, rewriting the rules,” the discussion reinforced the importance of building a more inclusive and collaborative scientific ecosystem one where women are empowered to lead, innovate, and shape the future of science.
