UK appoints Christian Rogg as New High Commissioner to Ghana

The United Kingdom has officially appointed Mr. Christian Rogg as the next British High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana. He is set to assume the role in July 2025, succeeding Ms. Harriet Thompson, who will be transitioning to another position within the UK’s Diplomatic Service .​

  • Accra, Ghana (2006–2009): Head of the Governance and Growth Team at the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), where he developed a deep understanding of Ghana’s political and economic landscape.

  • Hanoi, Vietnam (2009–2012): Acting/Deputy Head of DFID.GOV.UK

  • Abuja, Nigeria (2012–2015): Acting/Deputy Head of DFID.GOV.UK

  • Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (2015–2017): Head of DFID.

  • Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (2017–2021): Development Director.

  • FCDO, UK (2021–2023): Director for Development, Parliament, Coordination and Capability.

  • FCDO, UK (2023–present): Director for Development and Open Societies .​

His extensive experience in these roles has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of development and diplomatic affairs, particularly within the African context.
