“‘You’re the Best in Africa’ – Sports Minister, Kofi Adams Motivates Black Stars Ahead of Qualifiers”

Minister Kofi Adams Backs Black Stars to Shine in World Cup Qualifiers

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars, declaring them the best team on the African continent. He has urged the national team to secure crucial victories in their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Chad and Madagascar.

Ghana will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24, 2025.

Kofi Adams, who recently assumed office, was present as the Black Stars opened their training camp in Accra on Monday ahead of the two key fixtures. Speaking to the media, he encouraged the team to go all out and claim maximum points from both matches.

“I know we are going to win. Let’s stay united and work as a team—football is not an individual sport. If we play as one, the spirit will reflect in the fans too,” said the Minister. “There’s no team in Africa better than you. So there’s no reason we should be left out of any major tournament.”

The Black Stars are aiming to bounce back after a disappointing run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they finished bottom of Group F and failed to qualify for the tournament for the first time in over two decades.

Now focused on the World Cup qualifiers, the team is determined to restore national pride. Ghana currently sits second in Group I with nine points, tied with group leaders Comoros. Victories over Chad and Madagascar will be vital to boost their chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, set to take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
